In the frame of the CONNECTED exhibition, the encounter with ORLAN (FR) will help to highlight the existential foundations of the creative act and the artist’s role on the fringes of technological innovation. A leading artist, she constantly challenges and repositions the limits of works and the artist’s role in the field of contemporary art and society over the past decades. Above all, ORLAN is unique in that she becomes one with the creative venue and employs technological and medical innovations. Her work questions gender, beauty standards and feminine stereotypes and makes a plea for tolerance and hybridisation. Her actions serve to confirm the artist’s freedom and the fight against diktats on the basis of a resolutely non-conformist position and vision.
