A woman behind a shop window is faced with a complex dilemma: a man constantly attacks her, but she absolutely refuses to defend herself or strike back. Her attitude is anything but passive, on the contrary, it suggests profound willpower. In Shadow Boxing – a live version of a video from 2004 – Sophie Whettnall pursues ethical coherence by rejecting violence.
Performance organized by the CENTRALE as part of Performatik19, in partnership with Kaaitheater.
Meet us for our next exhibition Sophie Whettnall – Etel Adnan. La banquise, la forêt et les étoiles starting from April 4th 2019.
