Dit vroege type beeldprojector werd gebruikt in Belgische koloniale propaganda om de goede werken van de kerk, staat en industrie te etaleren. Lantaarnprojecties waren een effectieve manier om het koloniale project als een opwindend schouwspel aan het Belgisch publiek te presenteren.

Hoe fragiel beelden gemaakt van glas ook mogen zijn, toch zijn er vele duizenden bewaard. Deze vaak rijkelijk ingekleurde, indrukwekkende beelden gaven vorm aan de manier waarop Europeanen keken naar de koloniale andere. Dit uitzonderlijke materiaal werpt een unieke blik op hoe ‘onze Congo’ in ons gemeenschappelijk bewustzijn werd verankerd. De spanning tussen schoonheid en de koloniale ideologie staat in de film centraal. Door een associatief weefsel van assemblages en collages brengt de film de koloniale blik in kaart vanuit een gebroken gezichtsveld.

In samenwerking met Centre du Film sur l’Art

Trailer

["post-20222","activities","type-activities","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","activities-categories-cinema-nl

CENTRALE Cinema - Broken View - CENTRALE for contemporary art - Brussel

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/","url":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/","name":"CENTRALE Cinema - Broken View - CENTRALE for contemporary art - Brussel","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/#primaryimage"},"image":{"@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/#primaryimage"},"thumbnailUrl":"https://centrale.brussels/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Broken-View-Still_1_0.jpg","datePublished":"2023-04-12T15:32:10+00:00","dateModified":"2023-08-16T09:24:07+00:00","description":"CENTRALE Cinema: projectie Broken View, een poëtische essayfilm over de koloniale blik en de toverlantaarn...","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"nl-NL","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/"]}]},{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"nl-NL","@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/#primaryimage","url":"https://centrale.brussels/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Broken-View-Still_1_0.jpg","contentUrl":"https://centrale.brussels/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Broken-View-Still_1_0.jpg","width":1920,"height":1080},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/centrale-cinema-broken-view/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Events","item":"https://centrale.brussels/nl/events/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"CENTRALE Cinema –
